I hate the sleep button.

How To Disable the Keyboard Sleep Button with a Filter Driver

The Sleep hot key that exists on newer keyboards allows you to suspend the computer to a lower power state. For certain systems the lower power state may not be beneficial. This article explains how to disable the Sleep hot key feature by using a filter driver in the target device stack.

 Simple five-step usage guide:
        1. configure by editing ./autorip
        2. run ./autorip
        3. Drop audio CD into the CD-ROM tray.
        4. Do something else until autorip ejects your CD.
        5. Repeat steps 3-4 until CD supply is exhausted.

SetACL is a set of routines for managing Windows permissions (ACLs) from the command line, from scripts and from programs. These routines can be used from various container or interface programs. Currently there exist a command line version to be used in batch files or scripts and an ActiveX control (SetACL.ocx) which can be used from any COM-enabled language (VB, WSH scripts, ...).

cache windows update

these scripts are what i use to permanently cache downloads from microsoft (including windows update). note that this does not "clone" windowsupdate, rather it only stops you re-downloading files that have already been fetched (ie. it's a cache not a clone).

Gah, cursed memtest.bin

SYSLINUX - common problems

The single most common user error is setting up a kernel configuration which uses one of the reserved extensions

I could not figure out why memtest86.bin wouldn't pxe boot properly. Finally I recalled seeing this page , and renamed the file.
