Two links on how to move a HD or swap a motherboard

Introduction - Change Motherboard and save operating system

Microsoft support articles are effectively (almost completely) silent on the subject of adapting an installed operating system to a different motherboard. Because there is no official guidance from Microsoft, Windows users have developed a variety of methods on their own. With no standard procedure, users variously modify basic methods with alternate procedures. Following are the various methods reported to be used successfully by Windows users. All known alternate procedures for each basic method are included.

Really Slick Screensavers

These screensavers are written for Windows. They use OpenGL and require OpenGL hardware acceleration for optimum performance. If you don't have it, you probably need a better video card because these won't run at top speed and they won't be nearly as mesmerizing as they could be.

I Don't Like Your Examples!

I have been writing books about the Oracle PL/SQL programming language for the last five years. In 1999, O'Reilly published my fourth book, Oracle PL/SQL Programming Guide to Oracle8i Features, which created a bit of an uproar among my readership, caused considerable discussion within O'Reilly, and led to my writing this article.

Furthermore, Steelhead is self-tuning and virtually maintenance free. A true appliance, this box is as close to a hands-off device as you will find.

Debian initrd tweaking

stuff: Creating an initrd image on Debian GNU/Linux

When I started booting a box with multiple SCSI adapters, I wanted to keep the device ordering sane. I find it's best when the boot ordering matches the order in which Linux initializes the drivers for each controller. One effective way to handle this under Debian GNU/Linux with one of the stock kernels is to create a custom initrd image.

Symbolic links for windows

PearlMagik.com - Winbolic Link

Winbolic Link creates special folders which serve as links to the contents of another folder. They are functionally similar to "symbolic links" which unix users are familiar with.

Winbolic Link creates these links using only built-in functionality of Windows. It does not extend or modify the functionality of Windows or the file system, or require any service to remain running to maintain functionality. It merely creates the special kinds of files and folders Windows already supports, but which Microsoft did not distribute tools to create.
