Braglia Marketing are evil bastards.

So, I usually don't post anything but links, but I am really quite angry at Braglia Marketing right now. They've (according to caller ID) been calling for weeks and every time I answer the phone, no one is on the other end. Finally, tonight, I answer the phone and there is someone on the other end of the line.

He's selling something or other, there's some new thing at Fisherman's Wharf and we can get a free trip to Hawaii, and we "don't have to buy shit." I ask to have us taken off the list, he starts getting all snippy, so I ask to talk to his manager.

That's when things took a turn for the weird. He refuses to let me talk to his manager (?!) and demands to know why I would want to. I pointed out that he had refused to take me off the list, and that he had sworn at me twice (not technically true, I suppose, since it wasn't really at me so much as to me). He then got even more snippy and said "What you would like to do, and what you are going to do are two different things." (referring to me wanting to talk to his manager). Then he says that I swore at him, and eventually hangs up on me.

2 minutes later, the girl sitting next to him calls back and starts yelling at me (she calls me "Thomas", I think their list is outdated). Apparently, the guy I was talking to told her that I called him a nigger (obviously not true), and she wanted to give me a piece of her mind.

I tried explaining the situation to her, but I don't think she believed me.

It was super weird, because that guy actually goes through life literally making up stories about what "really" happened. It always surprises me when people refuse to acknowledge reality, and even more so when they actively struggle against it (e.g. by creating fictional events).

I hope they recorded the call. :)

P.S. I am on the do not call list, and have been since 7/26/2003. That is why Braglia Marketing are "evil bastards."

I am also on the do not call list and have been since It was opened, yet according to my caller ID log, Braglia Marketing is responsible for 9 of the last 50 calls on my phone. They are all hang-ups. So although I have not had the chance to tell them to stop, I am annoyed alone by the fact that they keep calling.

I got two calls from them today. I have call intercept on my phone but they supplied their number and that's how they get through the call intercept. The first time they called, I picked up

I am also on the National do not call list. Might be time to place a complaint.

Same problem. I have received 10 calls from them
over the past week. There is never anyone on the
other end. I've tried to call their corporate number

through.

Posted by: Chris at October 10, 2003 08:59 AM

Ditto! I tried calling their corporate headquarters and kept getting a busy signal! Next step = mailing them a complaint letter and also a copy to the Better Business Bureau!

The Do Not Call List didn't go into effect until the beginning of this month (October 2003: http://www.donotcall.gov/)

Posted by: Anca at October 10, 2003 01:28 PM

Yes, but this all happened (to me) a couple days after it did go into effect.

Posted by: jshare at October 10, 2003 01:49 PM

I have been called constantly by them. The last
call came last night. I am on the Do Not Call list and have been way before 9/1/03. I just reported them to the FCC. I hope others do likewise. It's very EZ. E-mail the FCC at
donotcall@fcc.gov and give them your name, phone
number you can be reached, phone number called
by telemarketer, and as much specific information
about the call as you can.
Let's get these guys to stop disturbing us.

I have been getting calls from Braglia Marketing for the last 2 or 3 weeks. They always hang up. I've just registered a complain in the "do-not-call registry". Everyone should do the same. Maybe if they get enough complaints, they'll do something about it

Braglia Marketing has called us more times than I can count. They are rude, continue to call and refuse to tell us why they are calling. They even refered to me as the hired help-I LIVE HERE, I am not the help!! Then they hung up on me.

I pcked up the phone 1 time they called yesterday and i got a hang up, i was pissed. Today, they called again and told me i won some airline ticket from a contest i entered. I told them i didn't fill out any contest forms and was not interested... then bye. They called me again about an hour later then again 1/2 hour later... both were hang up. I was online to see what type of recouse i had and found this site. I am also on the donotcall list.

The Do Not Call complaint, https://www.donotcall.gov/ Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx and the FCC e-mail, donotcall@fcc.gov . I plan on e-mailing these addresses every time Braglia Marketing calls.

I think that its wrong of you people to want to put others out of jobs!!Some of the people that work there are sooo nice, and have familys to feed! Just Because sometimes you get hung up on , it might have been an accident. ANd when I call people I am usually nice, But I understand that sometimes you get mad when they hang up, and also I agree some people are rude. Next time just say put me on ur do not call list! Instead of trying to put people out of jobs. We all have to provide as well as you do . But please just tell them YOU WANT TO BE PUT ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST PLEASE :).

I too tried to call the 1-702-968-8600 that I found on the web and it does not allow me to go through.. This is total harrassment! No one is on the other end of the line on the times I do pick up their calls.. I want them to be there!! I want to give them a piece of my mind...I am on the do not call list These Braglia calls have been going on for 3 weeks now.. I will figure a way.. even if I have to go to 4495 West Hacienda Ave in Nevada.. ok maybe not but will figure a way to stop this harrassment!!

If you would read, you would know that even if someone IS reached, they are rude and incompetient. OK... anyway, I have filed with the donotcall.gov site and the FTC comsumer complaint form. I am also calling my local NBC station which has some consumer reports thing that likes to investigate this kinda stuff. This can be fun folks.... really.

Braglia Marketing is a terrible company. I am a manager for an honest telemarketing company. Most companies are very honest and work hard to abide by the everchanging laws. However, Braglia Marketing obviously does not care.

Legally, if they hang up on you (know as an abandoned call) they are supposed to provide a recorded message explaining the nature of their call. Their abandon rate is not supposed to exceed 3% of their total calls, but I am sure they are much higher. I have received about 20 calls from them and have never had a live person. You are also supposed to be able to contact them at the number provided on the Caller ID box.

I hope that everyone complains to the fcc and their local government officials about this company.

Posted by: Brian at November 15, 2003 10:33 AM

I got my first Braglia call today, however, I have a history of annoying the telemarketers, and seemed to really get under their skin, so figured I'd pass it along and if you have a couple of minutes, you should all try it and annoy their managers.

First, ask where your entry card was filled out. (My caller told me I had won a trip by filling out an entry card for a trip). This will trip them up for a few seconds. Finally, they will reveal they are looking at a computer screen. Then ask to talk to the data entry people so you can ask about the entry form specifically. This frustrated the caller enough to give me her manager. I went through the same course with him, asking him to mail it to me, fax it to me, and then drive it to me.

This all made him very angry and it was a lot of fun wasting their time. I suggest, if someone is on the other line, take this route. You will be entertained for a couple of minutes, and waste Braglia's precious time.

If the government can't get them out of business, let's wreck their business model and force them out!

I just started getting calls from Braglia recently. Same story - multiple hang ups and a message when I try to call back. I did some research on the web and found out that the owner's name is Peter Braglia. He is (or was) associated with takemeonvacation.com and has an e-mail address listed as peterbraglia@takemeonvacation.com. The main phone number is 702-212-4753.

Hi Folks--just started getting the Bralia Marketing calls and their eternal busy signals. found the number for Takemeonvacation.com 702-212-4753 and i was given an extension to call Ext. 226 to take me off their list. ( i too am on the do not call list and they will be reported to FTC) i callled that extension and it is the number of a human resource person in theor office! Her name is KATHY PETERSON. so i left her a message and maybe if everyone who experiences the same calls can call Ms. Peterson and tie up her voicemail and make her life miserable. hope this info helps!

I don't get this business model.

(Hate to lead in with same old line)...I have was contacted by Braglia this evening and have been on the National 'leave me the heck alone' List since it was put into place. I did some phone surfing around and all I was able to get from a company that books stuff for takemeonvacation.com was an office phone number and an apology.
(954) 377-1800 does take you to a message that says you've called takemeonvacation.com after hours and gives option for company directory. I'm sure anyone using Braglia for their phone solicitation would be interested to hear that they're not abiding by Do Not Call registry. If anyone has any better luck getting through to a live person at Braglia or otherwise I'd love to hear it. Also, don't forget to fill out the form at https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx to complain.

Just had a call from take me on vacation. Told me I'd won 70% discount on a holiday and cruise to florida(I live in the UK) when I told them I didn't want to register they hung up. How ignorant !!

Posted by: Paul at January 29, 2004 06:47 AM

I also recently had a call from Take Me On Vacation using the "won a 70% discount on a holiday" routine. I only kept talking to them because I had time on my hands and enjoy wasting these idiots' time. When they had finished with their routine I told them I wasn't thick, knew it was a con and then they hung up.

I recently found a website (will remember the address soon and post it here) for a guy who has made a career out of irritating con-artists and telemarketers like these. He has lots of great lines to use which are very effective for getting rid of the parasitic little vermin.

Posted by: danny at February 18, 2004 05:44 AM

i am from Scotland and got a call two nights ago from take me on vacation, when the guy (Nicholas Johnson AKA Arsehole) asked for my credit card details i told him that i was not willing to give him them when i had no evidence of any florida holiday or cruise and to send me a brochure. He refused and told me he would just bill me i told him no way and i hung up the phone, he called back 4 times in a row and each time i lifted the phone and put it back down again on the 5th time i picked up and he was all its not a con why would i do such a thing we have a website look and see and i will call you tomorrow. Well the fact that you phoned back 5 times says you are a fucking conning skitso. So when he called back i told him i was 100% not interested so he then verbally abused me before he hung up on me. RESULT! I have now changed my number as i was getting silent calls for a few weeks before this, probably from skitso Nick!

My husband and his friend, went to a fishing expo recently and filled out slips for a "Free "trip to Florida and cruise to the Bahamas. We received a phone call, at first it sounded like the guy was calling from Hilton hotels , but when I asked him againn, he said Take me on Vacation. Of course, it all sounded good, hotel stays, cruise, entertainment, all at a promotional price, plus Bahamas taxes or fees (which sounded like a lot to me). My husband and I were both on the phone and both very suspicious, but kept listening. When he asked for a credit card to send us "flight vouchers" that would updrade us to first class if we flew to FL, the red flag really went up. We requested written information from his company explaining what we were really getting, etc. His response was that after we were "registered" which meant giving a credit card # we would receive our vouchers. My husband & I voiced our concern over not having a contract or anything to read and refused to go any further until we checked some things out. He again trued to assure us that our conversation would be taped and that would protect us. He had no intelligent response when I asked how I would get a copy of the tape(which apparently they tape during the registrationa and verification portion,) and by then my credit card info would already belong to him.We took his name & number and said we would call back if we were interested. I did some looking into the Better Business bureau, not much there on them, except any past complaint had been settled. I'm glad I found you guys, it verifies my suspicions. My husband's friend also declined this "FREE trip"

Posted by: Laura at March 16, 2004 09:40 AM

Take Me On Vacation is not a scam. Its a legitimate business based in Florida that sends over 5,000 luck Brits a year on Orlando/Carribean cruise Holiday. And yes i do work for them.

How do you think a company which has been in existence for 6 years would continue managing to do business in the U.S. if it didn't deliver the goods as promised??
Do you think Americans are thick?

I think a lot of you out there are over reacting. I happen to know Peter Braglia and he is a real nice guy and a professional at selling real products. I have benefited by his company and still to this day I am enjoying my time-share in Lake Tahoe. I understand that random phone calls from telemarketers can be annoying but if you are clear and explain to them that you are not interested they will back off. Of course, you may get an occasional solicitor who is overly aggressive but this is how they make their income. I have been to a Braglia training seminar and all the phone solicitors must attend a rigorous training session. It is a comprehensive workshop focusing on human resources and public relations. They undergo classes in basic supervision of people and phone courtesy. Peter Braglia has personally tailored these classes to people who talk to people. I think Peter has taken a bum rap and should be applauded for his commitment to excellence in his field.

Bravo,

Peter

Just came across your posts. Happily, Braglia got their just desserts and have been charged by the feds for violating the Do Not Call list.

Federal prosecutors are charging a Las Vegas company with making more than 300,000 telemarketing calls to consumers on the national do-not-call list.

It marks the first case dealing solely with do-not-call violations since the popular year-old registry took effect last October and the first time the government is seeking civil penalties against a telemarketer.

Braglia Marketing Group has been making the improper calls since last October, the Federal Trade Commission says in the case filed Monday in a Nevada federal court. Company owners Frank and Kate Braglia did not return phone messages. Braglia attorney Sean Wilson would not comment.

Telemarketers are barred from calling numbers on the national list, which contains about 63 million numbers. Companies must pay $25 per area code, or a maximum of $7,250 nationwide, to get a list of registered numbers in that region. Those fees are to rise to $40 per area code and $11,000 maximum today.

Braglia also is accused of making more than 10,000 calls in various area codes without paying the required fees for the lists and of violating rules against "dead air" calls from automatic dialers by not connecting to a person within two seconds on some calls.

"Our goal is to make sure that when consumers say, 'I don't want to receive calls,' that legal right is respected," says Eileen Harrington, the FTC's associate director for marketing practices.

Since the do-not-call list took effect, the FTC has gotten about 500,000 complaints of violations and brought three cases against groups of telemarketers that were also charged with fraud for other reasons. They include claims against debt-management companies charged with masquerading as non-profit groups, which are exempt from do-not-call rules.

The Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) also has warned 14 companies for up to a few hundred calls to registered numbers. AT&T paid $490,000 to settle FCC (news - web sites) claims that it called consumers on its own do-not-call list, as well as some on the national registry.

"We think compliance has been quite good," Harrington says. She says the FTC has granted leeway to telemarketers that have "good compliance procedures" but mistakenly call small numbers of customers. "We're not interested in playing gotcha," she says.

The national registry has reduced the number of households on telemarketing lists nationwide by 25% to 50%, the Direct Marketing Association estimates.

You guys are amazing. With all of the stuff going on in the world your main concern is getting phone calls! Give it rest. Hang up if you don't like it.

Do you honestly believe that Braglia Marketing are the only ones doing this?

Braglia marketing has not taken anything from anyone. There have been hundreds of companies (Enron) who have literally stolen billions from both employees and customers during the past year. Their crimes have hurt our economy and our job market in ways that Braglia's phone calls will never do.

Have you spoken with the same type of harsh language regarding those who knowlingly STEAL from people who have put there trust in their companies?

If they broke the law they should be dealt with, but if seems like your energy is focused in an area that is relatively minor.

Thanks for reading.

Our government has our country 300 trillion dollars in debt, our Social Security system is failing, education is being neglected, there is blood being shed over oil, medicine companies are making it impossible for the sick to be treated, we’ve managed to upset most if not all of the free world and you complain about a guy who is only trying to better himself and his employees? Please get a life, or a job, or anything that will occupy your time with important issues.

Someone who employs American people, contributes to the American economy, and has elevated expectations for advancing his career should be applauded not badgered. Braglia Marketing has proven it is a tenacious organization and has endured the test of time. It will not go away by your insignificant rhetoric and ignorant retort.

People like you remind me of the same maggots who agree with the prosecution of the brave soldiers (men and women) at Abu Ghraib prison. Yes, the same soldiers who disciplined the Iraqi detainees. And the same soldiers who will face court martial hearings for their exemplary efforts to extract information from the enemy.

These Iraqi detainees plotted and planned the assassination of so many innocent Americans. They carried out suicide bombings against innocent women and children. They launched attacks against independent US contractors and oh yeah, beheaded them to send America a message. After finishing your attacks on Braglia Marketing, how about reinstating the third Reich?

There is no comparison and yet you are allowing yourselves the privilege of assuming the role of judge, juror, and executioner. There are more important things that we need to focus on and come together as a country.

Are you envious of Peter Braglia and his company for tapping the resources this great country provides? Do you hate that he became so successful? Are you on edge because that young, voluptuous hard body you married in your youth turned fat and ugly overnight and refuses to give you a piece of that big fat ass? Just remember, direct your anger elsewhere because quite frankly, we really don’t give a fuck!

Go get ‘em Braglia

Dude, you are so seriously a wack-job.

Why would you double post the same inane (and *unbelieveably* off-topic) rant?
